JAUNT Friends: Supporting JAUNT transportation services and providing fare scholarships
to the passengers who need them.

Transportation makes a difference in people's lives. No matter how wonderful the senior program may be, or open appointments a doctor may have, or job opportunities there are, people need transportation to get there. JAUNT's rates are affordable to most people, but not to all; that's where JAUNT Friends comes in. JAUNT friends is a 501(c)3 dedicated to making sure that people can afford to get where they need to go.

JAUNT Friends is celebrating its 5th anniversary by
launching Jeans for JAUNT Friends!!

Raise awareness and support a great cause by sponsoring a Jeans for JAUNT Friends event
at your workplace, church, or club.

Here’s how it works:  Each business, church, congregation, or club, sets its own goal and chooses its own schedule. Each participant donates $1 to JAUNT Friends and receives a sticker.  The participant then wears the sticker and a pair of jeans on the day(s) that your company chooses.  Easy and fun!

This program will be available throughout 2012 and is being launched in May because it’s the fifth month.  Get it?  5th month, 5th anniversary?!  Have some fun and set YOUR goal with a reference to our 5th anniversary.  Hold a Jeans for JAUNT Friends event 5 times, raise $50, enroll 15 employees…you get the idea!

JAUNT Friends would like to thank our donors who contribute through the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign. We were able to provide a record number of ticket scholarships for our passengers last year and your donations made that possible!

Scholarships:

Scholarships are available for JAUNT passengers who are struggling to meet the cost of their transportation. These scholarships usually cover the JAUNT ticket fare for one week. JAUNT ticket scholarship requests can be made by an individual or on behalf of someone else. To qualify, a person must be a resident of one of the following areas: Albemarle, Buckingham, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Louisa, or Nelson. A passenger may be eligible for two scholarships per fiscal year which begins July 1st and ends June 30th.

Without JAUNT Friends, many of the consumers I serve would not be able to access the Louisa Employment Center, medical appointments in Louisa and in Charlottesville or other medical providers like the Health and Wellness center that offers medical and dental services on a sliding scale.. THANKS to YOU- JAUNT Friends, the members of this community are able to access safe, reliable and affordable transportation.
