For 50 years, Jaunt has helped keep Central Virginia moving, connecting people to work, healthcare, family, essential services and the communities they call home.
On September 30, Jaunt marked that milestone with a 50th anniversary celebration at the Hillsdale Conference Center in Charlottesville, bringing together employees, board members, elected officials, community partners and supporters to recognize five decades of service and look ahead to what comes next.
The celebration was an opportunity to reflect on how far Jaunt has come since beginning service in 1975 and to recognize the people who have made that journey possible. Over the decades, Jaunt has grown from a small transportation program into a regional public transit provider serving communities throughout Central Virginia.
While the vehicles, technology and services have evolved, Jaunt’s purpose has remained centered on people, helping riders maintain their independence, access opportunities, and stay connected.
The anniversary celebration also highlighted Jaunt’s next chapter, including its refreshed visual identity. The new brand reflects the organization’s continued commitment to people, service, connection and care while creating a more recognizable and cohesive presence throughout the region.
The milestone comes at an important time for Jaunt as the organization continues working to increase awareness of its services, strengthen community partnerships and improve the rider experience across the communities it serves.
Jaunt’s story has always been bigger than transportation. Every trip represents a connection to a doctor’s appointment, a job, groceries, family, friends or an opportunity that might otherwise be out of reach.
That impact is made possible every day by Jaunt’s operators, employees, riders, community partners and the localities that have supported the organization throughout its history.
As Jaunt begins its next 50 years, the organization remains focused on continuing that legacy while finding new ways to connect Central Virginia with reliable, accessible and caring transportation.
