NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS AND PUBLIC HEARING
While Jaunt, Inc. assumed operations of Greene County Transit (GCT), effective July 1, 2020, work to align the two agency’s policies is ongoing. In support of this effort, staff will conduct a Title VI analysis and public outreach to change two Greene County Transit practices. The goal is to ensure there is no disparate impact nor disproportionate burden if these changes are enacted.
The first suggested policy change addresses the age that a child is allowed to ride alone. Current GCT policy allows children of any age to ride unaccompanied. The suggested change would bring GCT’s policy in alignment with Jaunt’s by requiring children five and under be accompanied.
The second suggested policy change would bring GCT’s reservation policy in alignment with Jaunt’s by requiring reservations be made at least one day in advance. The current GCT policy allows for same-day reservations.
Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, the public meetings and public hearing will be held through video conferencing. Access to the meetings and hearing is available through Zoom or telephone. Visit https://zoom.us/join and enter 434 296 3184 as the meeting ID.
In addition to the public meetings listed on the right, public comments can be submitted in writing, by phone (voicemail), or live through Zoom teleconference at any of the public meetings. Written/voicemail comments must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 and can be submitted as follows:
By email: firstname.lastname@example.org
By U.S. Mail: Jaunt Board of Directors, 104 Keystone Place, Charlottesville, VA 22902
By voicemail: (434) 297-2606
It is anticipated the Board will render a decision on these matters as early as the close of the public hearing on October 14, 2020.
