Regional Connections Powered by Care

New visual identity reflects Jaunt’s legacy of care, access and community connection across Central Virginia

New visual identity reflects Jaunt’s legacy of care, access and community connection across Central Virginia

May 13, 2026 Milton Steppe Community, News, Partners, Riders

Charlottesville, VA, MAY 13, 2026 — PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jaunt, Central Virginia’s regional public transportation provider, is celebrating 50 years of service with the launch of a refreshed visual brand that honors its history while looking ahead to the future of regional mobility.

The new brand builds on Jaunt’s core values of People, Service, and Connection. Its centerpiece is a reimagined logo in which the “A” in Jaunt transforms from a bus into a letter — an ode to Jaunt’s legacy and a clearer vision forward, symbolizing the movement, service, and people that have defined the organization since 1975.

The updated identity was developed through a participatory process that included a Communications Advisory Group made up of key riders and community partners, alongside extensive internal and external surveys. The goal was straightforward: make Jaunt’s brand more vibrant, welcoming, and reflective of the care that guides its work — and make its services easier to recognize and navigate across the region.

“This brand refresh started with listening,” said Mike Murphy, CEO. “Through our Communications Advisory Group and extensive community surveys, we heard a clear message: care is at the heart of what Jaunt does. This new brand is our commitment to make sure that shows up in everything we do. We’re grateful to everyone who was part of this process. This brand belongs to this community.”

For five decades, Jaunt has connected residents across Central Virginia to healthcare, employment, education, and daily life. What began as a human service transportation provider has grown into a regional public transit system serving urban and rural communities throughout the region.

“Jaunt is a critical part of how people in our region live their lives,” said Brad Burdette, Jaunt Board Chair. “Our goal is to build a strong team, put the right structure in place, and empower our staff to deliver.”

“Its work goes far beyond transportation alone,” said Kendall Howell, Assistant Director of Transportation at UVA and Jaunt Board Member. “Jaunt creates access, strengthens communities, and helps people stay connected to the services and relationships that shape quality of life. As mobility continues to evolve, Jaunt continues to play a meaningful leadership role in that future.”

As Jaunt marks this milestone year, the organization will share stories from riders, staff, operators, and community partners throughout the region — highlighting the many ways transportation supports independence, dignity, and connection in Central Virginia.

Community members are encouraged to follow Jaunt on social media, tag us when you spot a new bus, and visit ridejaunt.org for anniversary updates, service information, and ways to get involved

Jaunt Celebrates 50 Years of Connecting the Region

October 1, 2025 Jason Espie News

Community invited to share stories as part of yearlong anniversary celebration

Charlottesville, VA — [30 September, 2025] — This year, Jaunt marks a major milestone: 50 years of connecting people across Central Virginia. Since its founding in 1975, Jaunt has provided safe, reliable, and accessible transportation to thousands of riders in Albemarle, Buckingham, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson counties, helping residents get to work, access healthcare, school, community events, and more.

To honor this legacy, Jaunt is launching a yearlong 50th Anniversary Celebration, featuring community events, rider recognition, and storytelling initiatives that highlight the impact of public transportation over the past five decades.

“As we look back on 50 years of service, we know the most important part of Jaunt’s story is the people we serve,” said Mike Murphy, Jaunt Chief Executive Officer. “Our mission has always been rooted in community, care, and connection—and this anniversary is about celebrating the ways Jaunt has supported essential regional needs for mobility across generations.”

Built on Core Values: People, Service, Connection

For five decades, Jaunt has stood by three guiding principles:

  • People: Mobility designed for your life. Jaunt prioritizes accessibility, independence, mobility, and care—so every person, regardless of ability, age, or location, can move through the region with confidence and respect.
  • Service: Transit powered by care. At Jaunt, every ride is more than a route—it’s a commitment to serving with compassion and reliability in every interaction. From your curb to our community, we deliver safe, responsive, timely, and thoughtful service that treats people like neighbors, not numbers.
  • Connection: Transit that improves well-being. Jaunt strengthens the region by connecting people to opportunity, care, and each other. Whether it’s a trip to work, a medical appointment, or a visit with family, we help communities thrive—one ride at a time.

Share Your Jaunt Story

As part of the anniversary campaign, Jaunt invites riders, past and present, to share their experiences. Community members can submit written stories, photos, videos, or artwork through a new microsite: https://ridejaunt.org/50years/. Stories will be featured throughout the year in Jaunt’s “50 Years in Stories” series, at local events, and on social media.
